Calaveras
Papier mache using sugar skull molds and pattern tissue and instructions. The bigger ones are still drying. The details came out great, so far. I tried to use an old Sherlock Holmes book, but the paper was too heavy. The tissue paper was okay, but the pattern instruction sheet was the best compromise between paper [...]
Burda 8665
IMG_2354, originally uploaded by neefer. This used to be one of my favorite patterns. I have gained weight since I last made it, but I figured that it would work just as well if I retraced it. Instead of grading up the last version, I retraced a larger size. I’m not happy with it. It [...]
My new Purse
I based the pattern on a purse from Kohl’s and reused the findings. I still need to do a bit of finish work on the zipper, so pictures of the innards are coming soon.

At long last, Chunguita’s Halloween costume.
Chunguita wanted to be a witch for Halloween, so being a good mother, I decided to make her a costume. (Did you hear the sarcasm?) Actually, that’s not true. When we were out with her Uncle Jack, Aunt Eina, and cousin Vivian, we found a spectacular aubergine witch’s hat. Once she had the hat, she [...]
New (to me) pattern company.
We had a sewing get-together last weekend, and I was introduced to these patterns. Au Bonheur des Petites Mains is a French company, and their website is in French. Some of the links below go to patterns sized 46 to 52 and some go patterns sized 36 to 46. I’m thinking of ordering some (all?) [...]
