Same mistake, over and over again.

FBA, too big and too low

What is my problem? This is the third time that I’ve done this. Too big and too low! Do I think that I’m fatter than I am? It’s too big for Buttina, and she still has the nursing boobs.

Almost Done

The excess fabric doesn’t show as much with the skirt on; it’s weight pulls the top down. I wish I could figure out why I keep doing this.

Hi! …and welcome to the Creative Fashion Sewing Ring!

Now, about your fitting problem. First, it’s not *that* bad! Also remember that tops with this silhouette (drop shoulder, kimono-type/dolman type short sleeve) will have some folds that are just inherant to the design intself.

That said, a garments winkles/folds always “point” to the problem, in this case notice where the dart is sewn, now look at where the fabric “wants” the dart sewn….the side fold is pointing farther up, and the fold means that more fabric needs to be taken up by the dart.

My suggestion is to take out the side seams, and try the top on, inside-out. Then pin fit the darts according to your body, not according to where the pattern says they “should” be. resew the side seams. Do all this “fitting sewing” with a long basting stitch, or small pins. Sometimes it’s just best to “fit as you sew”.

    Good luck,
