A new point system.

Sleeping Angel

We instituted a new points system. We used to give the kids 100 points at the beginning of the week and take away points for poor behavior and give more points for good behavior, but it wasn’t working. Pulguito was ALWAYS ending up with way fewer points than Chunguita, and that meant that he got less allowance. Also, when he was down on points, it was really hard for me to take more away, no matter how poor his behavior was.

Now, they can earn points, and they do not loose them. However, the way they spend their points is restricted. They earn points for everything they are expected to do. The idea is that they earn a minimum number every day and spend those points on privileges every day. Some of the things they always do, but they are expected behaviors, like taking their dishes over. Privileges are things like playing Nintendo DS for an hour or watch TV for 30 minutes.

Here’s our sample form for Pulguito.

Today was our first day with the new point system. Pulguito broke several “rules”, so he was unable to redeem any points tonight. He took it very well.
