I was listening to This American Life which told a horror story, in honor of Halloween, about a woman who got attacked by a rabid racoon. Then Ira Glass starting talking about rabid bats. Did you know that you can get bit by a bat and not know it? I didn’t, and I didn’t quite believe Ira, either. Urban legend, what?
It seems that it is indeed true.

My SILs had a bat in the house. They called someone to have it removed. I thought this was a good idea, but now, I think it’s a really, really good idea.
If you find a bat in your house, it’s a VERY good idea to catch it and have it tested for rabies, especially if it has been in the house while someone was sleeping. If you can’t catch it, and that sleeping clause applies, I’d get the rabies treatment.
