Airplane Disaster

Remember that big airplane went down into an Iowa cornfield in the 1980s. There was a parent on the plane with a lap child. When the plane was going down, the parent asked the flight attendant what she should do with the baby. The flight attendant told her to put the baby on the floor. The plane went down at a moderately steep angle, and the baby rolled away from the parent. Another passenger looked down as she was exiting the plane, saw the baby, picked him up, and ran out of the plane.

I don’t know if the parent had to be dragged out of the plane or not. I’m not sure that I would be able to leave, unless forced, without my child.

Because of that, I am always willing to pay full price (altho infants are usually 1/2 price) for a seat for my baby and her carseat. And I have been glad to have the carseat since Chunguita is such a super traveler and sleeps most of the time.

I’m not implying that anyone is a bad parent if they don’t buy a seat for their kids. And the chance of a plane making an emergency landing is so small as to be negligible.
