Royally Pissed Off

Actually, I’m more mad than that. I’m fucking pissed off.

Today is Tuesday; the day that I have my CBT group in the Kaiser Eating Disorder program. So I drive up to Walnut Creek from Livermore only to find that the group has been cancelled. They didn’t even call me. I’ve been in the group for 4 years. Not only do I spend money driving up there, I have to take the morning off work. And now, I’m so wound up, that getting any work done is a pipe dream.

The thing is that one of the therapists is on vacation, and the other therapist is sick. We used to have three (3) therapists for about 100 clients, but one had to move back home to take care of elderly parents. That was 2 years ago. Have they hired anyone to replace her?

Big, fat, fucking NO!

To add insult to injury, in the IOP (intensive out-patient) program, they have a therapist to client ratio that is something like 2 to 1. This is a program that they started AFTER our third therapist had to leave.

I have bulimia. If miss group for 3 weeks running, I usually stop eating, and the whole lovely cycle starts all over. So much for preventative services. HELLO, KAISER, there are serious medical complications to bulimia. It’s not all in our heads, and you shall care for me if I show up in the emergency room. It would be so much better for me, and less expensive for you, if I got to go to my weekly group.

I filed a complaint with member services. Hopefully, others did, too. Now, if I could just find the name of the manager of Kaiser Mental Health in Walnut Creek, I’d spam her name all over the ‘web. Hm, maybe I can in the Kaiser directory. Well, she’s not there. I’ll have to wait until next week.
