Title: American Sewing Guild-Walnut Creek presents: Community Sew
Program: On Saturday,September 27, 2008 we will be getting together to sew bibs for babies, wheelchair bound children and adults, and for seniors. The sizes needed are from 1 year to 90 years. The most popular style for children is terry cloth (clean finger towels provide a good source) with a hole cut in the center, insert a knitted band that stretches over the head and instant bib. The bibs will be taken to the layette program, senior centers and convalescent homes. These are so quick and easy that we can sew up at least 50. Don’t forget lunch is on the guild, don’t pass this opportunity up.
The following supplies will be available but we will welcome donations: Terry cloth, prequilted
cotton fabric, cute cotton fabrics for bindings, pockets and facings, pre-made bias binding,
velcro and knitted ribbing fabric for over the head style.
Please bring the following: Sewing machine and/or serger, thread for both (light gray is the
best), extension cord, light, walking foot, binding foot, scissors, seam ripper, rotary cutter &
mat, scissors, pins, eye glasses and lots of enthusiasm.
Below are several websites that provide free bib patterns for those who would like to get a head start.
