Cool Stuff at Work

My worksite is sorta off in the country, a rural area, sorta. Anyway, …

There have been badger sitings at work!

The American badger that has been seen on site in the last few weeks has two cubs. They were observed on Monday evening around 9:15 on the east side of the campus. Be cautious walking around the site during early morning and evening hours. If you spot the badger clan or the cubs alone, DO NOT APPROACH. Badgers are known for their aggressive behavior.

The above picture is by Bill Bouton and is not the badger seen at my worksite.

How cool would it be to see the badger and her cubs?

That would be incredibly cool! I’ve never seen a badger — they seem to exotic to me to be hanging out at your worksite (I used to drive by there many times a month going to one of my Labrador friends’ houses!). Badgers! Totally cool!

Reminds me of when I lived in Colorado Springs – one day at my local grocery store I saw this man in the parking lot with his arms outspread, trying to direct an animal, which I at first thought was a dog. I’d never seen a badger up close. This one had come from nearby Palmer Park – a very cool patch of wildness that was just behind my apartment complex. The guy in the parking lot had called the police and animal control but they didn’t seem to concerned that there was a badger running around a grocery store parking lot, near houses…and children.
