Stuck in Portland

Sculpture on Waterfront
Sidewalk Art

We got stuck in Portland for an extra day. After we got back, my secretary said to me, “I could hear the kids crying in the background, and I could tell you were in trouble.” It really wasn’t fun getting stuck.

The best place to have breakfast in Portland.
Really good breakfast restaurant

Our flight was supposed to leave Portland at 6 am, so we got to the airport at 4 am. That was kinda dumb on our part. The flight had been cancelled the night before, so we could have spared ourselves the early morning trip. It really wasn’t fun getting a hotel from the airport at 5 am in the morning. After calling 5 or 6 hotels, I was able to secure lodging at the holiday inn. We went there and slept until about 9 am.

Then it was off in search of food. I recommend Big Mama’s on Dana in Portland. We liked it so much that we went back the next day. It’s a diner, and they do great pancakes and eggs. The service was good, too.

Interesting cover

After breakfast, DH took the kids to the children’s museum, and I gave blood. I was going to shop, but staying an extra day was costing us $500 as it was. We met back on the waterfront for hotdogs. Then it was back to the hotel for a nap. Pulguito protested, but he fell asleep immediately. We woke up and went swimming in the indoor pool. It was a nice indoor pool. Usually, they are so hot and humid, but this one was very comfortable.

We had a nice dinner with Granny, Linda, & Kathy and went back to the hotel for more sleeping. After breakfast the next morning, we stopped at a playground and let the kids run wild. Back at the hotel, I took the kids to the swimming pool. Pulguito had a meltdown, and we spent several minutes in a timeout while he concidered the consequences of his actions. Then we had to pack up and leave for the airport. Our flight home wasn’t great. Twice, I had to threaten people with sitting next to a 4 year old to get seats together, but we made it home just fine.

Two movies of the kids:
