The last day of First Grade

Today was the last day of First Grade for Chunguita. DH & I went to her pool party at the public pool. I think I got a tish sunburned.

Usually, I’m sad at the end of the school year. I volunteer in the classroom, and when the schoolyear ends, that usually means the end of contact with the kids. However, Chunguita is in the bilingual class, and there is only one bilingual class per grade, so she will be staying with these kids. That means that I get to watch the same kids as they grow up for the next few years. I hope to have a lasting influence on some of them. I, especially, want to show the girls that you can be the girl child of a Mexican immigrant and grow up to realize all of her dreams.
