I’m testing a pattern for Perpet. The first thing that I did when I got the pattern was to check for a gauge. The pattern didn’t have one, so I e-mailed Perpet for one. She sent me one. Did I do a gauge swatch? No. Instead, I make the hat, and when I’m almost done, I try it on. It’s way too big. That’s when I did this little gauge swatch.
I recommend checking the gauge BEFORE making your garment. It works a lot better that way.
I used Sensations Bellezza Collection Smania from Joanns. It was on clearance. Does anyone buy anything from Joann’s unless it’s on clearance or they have a coupon?
It’s a cotton nylon blend. ~104 yards/skein
The label says to use a K hook. A 4×4 (inch?) swatch is 14 sc.
I compared it to the yarn you used and figured it was close enough.
I haven’t made anything that required a gauge for decades, so I have no idea if I’m loose or tight.
