Not Ready for Xmas

We had a very nice weekend with Chunguita. On Saturday, we spent the day at home. Chunguita loves to do chores. When we went outside, instead of playing on her climbing structure, she wanted to sweep up leaves. I’ve got to get her kid sized tools. While she was trying to get the big broom into position, she managed to fall over backwards into a rose bush. Ouch! She started to scream and thrash, but when I told her that I needed her to hold still so that I could get her out. She went perfectly still. Even after that, she still wanted to sweep up leaves. We filled the green bin! Only after it was filled would she play on her slides and swing. She used the see-saw with me, too. She’s been afraid of it.

On Sunday, we went to “A Victorian Christmas” at Ravenswood (local historic house in our park district). She was afraid of Santa, but she loved the miniature horses and had to go for a ride with her father. The high school choir performed caroles, and Chunguita was entranced. I thought they were very good. Chunguita liked them so much she couldn’t stay in her daddy’s lap, but stood up and kept inching forward. After the songs, the local ballet troup performed stuff from the nutcracker. Chunguita liked the sugarplum fairy, but she didn’t like the coffee. The best part of the day was hearing her laugh as the 3 of us ran thru the leaves kicking them around.

My house is a mess, I haven’t wrapped any presents, I have no idea what we’re going to be serving for xmas dinner, but I had a grand weekend with my daughter.
