Front Yard

in: Gardening

That’s my front yard in late August. The lime green plant in the foreground is a sweet potato. There are 2 roses behind it. One is suffering from dieback; it’s a China tea. I think the other one is gone, leaving root stock growing. Just in case, I’m letting it go for a bit, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be digging it up. To the right is a nandina; Gulf Stream, I think. Some liriope has been trimmed. The bearded iris leaves are looking sad, typical for August. The Santa Barbara daisies are going strong. Oh, and to the left, the tall spiky leaves are a native iris.
